ABOUT THE PROJECTBata, a global leader in the footwear industry, operates in 70 countries across five continents. The primary goal was to create a unified stylistic approach for all Bata eCommerce sites worldwide, while still preserving local characteristics.

GOALS AND NEEDS

Before the redesign, each country had its own unique style, fonts, and imagery, leading to a fragmented brand identity. The project aimed to establish a consistent visual language, develop a flexible design system adaptable to various countries, and create clear digital guidelines for content management that would be uniform across all teams.

The font issue was resolved by selecting
a typeface better suited to online use with a more “refreshed” look, while a second font
was selected to maintain continuity with Bata’s physical stores and social media presence.

OUR RESULTS

The project followed an agile approach, with design sprints immediately followed by development phases. The goal was to enhance the visual presentation to reflect a more modern, premium and inspirational bran across all markets.

Vulcano worked closely with regional teams, through weekly workshops, focusing on a mobile-firs experience to meet user’s needs and ensure seamless navigation across all devices. We developed a variety of flexible modules and pages that adapt to the diverse content requirements of different international markets, enabling product exploration through intuitive design and rich storytelling. The result is a unified visual identity that speaks to each country’s unique language, creating global consistency while preserving local nuances.

This flexible system was designed to scale easily and adapt to future business needs, ensuring a consistent user experience across different regions and platforms. This approach has significantly strengthened Bata’s international image, embedding brand’s values and style into the online experience.
