In its active collaboration with PAC, Vulcano has supported “O AMOR SE FAZ REVOLUCIONÁRIO”, the largest retrospective, and the first in Italy, of the Italian-Brazilian artist Anna Maria Maiolino. Inspired from the feminine daily imagination and from the experience of the oppressive dictatorship of Brazil of the 70s and 80s, Maiolino creates strong works, blending Italian creativity and the the Brazilian avant-gardes experimentation.
Crossed by the theme of love for her origins, her family, her land of adoption and her work, Maiolino investigates human relationships, communication and expression difficulties, and overcomes the boundary between physicality and spiritual sphere. With a selection of over 300 works ranging from the earliest drawings to the latest creations, the exhibition also includes the exclusive paintings of the 90s, and works from the most important Brazilian museums such as the MAM, the MASP and the Museo Pinacoteca do Estado. Drawings, paintings, sculptures, photos, videos and installations – of which a site-specific made entirely of clay – tell an artistic history that began in the early 60s and is still vital today, able to influence many artists of the new generations.
